Le categorie di seguito riportate rappresentano solamente una prima indicazione generale sulle condizioni dei manufatti, in alcuni casi l’indicazione data potrà essere: A1/B2 un manufatto in questo stato avrà delle caratteristiche intermedie tra le due categorie.

Classificazioni delle condizioni dei manufatti.
(Condizione) A1 - Tappeto in ottimo stato di conservazione rispetto all’età del manufatto, bordi e frange originali, non ci sono abbassamenti del vello, non ci sono restauri evidenti.
(Condizioni) B2 - Tappeto che può necessitare di essere pulito, con qualche piccolo restaurato fatto in modo professionale, possibili bordi e frange rifatte o restaurate, possibili piccole abrash o qualche piccola macchia di colore, per il resto buono stato.
(Condizione) C3 - Tappeto che può necessitare di essere pulito, piccoli segni di usura, piccoli danni alle frange e ai bordi o in aree marginali. Parti potenzialmente restaurate, possibili abbassamenti del vello o qualche piccola macchia di colore, possibili piccole abrash, possibili piccoli danni da tarme, restauri non necessari, il tappeto può essere usato.
(Condizione) D4 - Tappeto da pulire con evidenti tracce di usura, possibili macchie di colore, possibili piccole abrash, oppure aree del tappeto schiarite dal sole, possibili danni da tarme, alcune parti restaurate, inoltre restauri da fare se si ritiene necessario.
(Condizione) E5 – Tappeto con abrash, oppure aree del tappeto schiarite dal sole , parti usurate, danni da tarme o danni che richiedono riparazione e pulizia, gravi danni che probabilmente non possono essere riparati, sporco e/o scolorimento.
(Condizione) F6 – Frammento di tappeto ( il tappeto non è più completo, con parti mancanti), non può essere usato ma eventualmente utilizzato come arazzo.
