Atelier di David Teniers II ( Anversa 1610 - Bruxelles 1690) "Paesaggio con astanti", tradizionalmente noto come “La famiglia del pittore Teniers”. Olio su tela. Cm 114x190. L’opera è firmata in basso a destra: D. Teniers, con data 1673. Della composizione è nota anche un’altra versione, di dimensioni leggermente inferiori, conservata presso la collezione della Regina d’Inghilterra, come riportato dalla letteratura degli anni 1649-50. Il dipinto in questione è stato realizzato nello studio di Teniers, probabilmente sotto diretto controllo del maestro. Sono presenti piccole variazioni rispetto al corrispettivo inglese, non è comunque da escludere la piena attribuzione al pittore di Anversa, nonostante non sia possibile sciogliere i dubbi riguardo l’autografia della tela, alla luce dell’alterazione di vecchie vernici che non permette di apprezzarne la croma e rendendo, al contempo, difficile decifrare i dettagli. Anche se da tradizione viene identificato come una rappresentazione della famiglia dell’artista, si tratta in realtà di una mise en scene dell’importanza di classe raggiunta nel Seicento dal pittore. In primo piano sono presenti un gentiluomo e due dame che passeggiano nella propria tenuta, mentre un fattore indica loro le anatre che nuotano nello stagno. Lievemente in disparte, un giovane paggetto tenta di trattenere un levriero, come fosse nell’atto di lanciarsi in una corsa in direzione delle anatre. La sicurezza con cui i proprietari di casa sembrano presentarsi all’artista sta a sottolineare lo status assunto dallo stesso all’interno della società coeva.
